Outboard Motor Safety

Safety Information

  1. Avoid contact with propeller. Keep people and pets away from propeller while the engine is operating.
  2. DO NOT run the outboard out of the water.
  3. Operate equipment with guards in place.
  4. Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts.
  5. Tie up long hair and remove jewelry.
  6. DO NOT wear loose-fitting clothing, dangling drawstrings or items that could become caught.
  7. Keep lines, rigging and other equipment inside the boat.
  8. Allow muffler, engine cylinder, valve cover and fins to cool before touching.
  9. Remove debris buildup from muffler area and cylinder area.
